What to expect on race day

Picking up Race packs:

All participants are required to collect a race pack that will contain your event race number, timing chip and other items specific to your registered event. It will not be mailed to you.

Please bring the following when collecting your pack:

  • Confirmation of entry such as your confirmation email with QR code
  • Personal identification such as drivers licence, student ID or passport

Picking up Race Kits for other people

You may collect another person’s Race Kit but you must present their confirmation email at the time of collection. Team Captains may pick up their team’s bibs but please ensure you advise your team members that you are collecting them on their behalf.

Anyone who has not signed the Event Waiver will not be permitted to collect their race pack and will not be allowed to compete.

Race Pack Collection Points:

Venue: Peninsula Private Hospital, Corner George Street & Florence Street, Kippa Ring, QLD, 4021

Friday, 20th July, 2pm to 7pm

Saturday, 21st July, 9am to 3pm

Venue: J2J Registration Tent, Crockatt Park, Woody Point.

Sunday, 22nd July, 6am until 15 minutes before race start.


Arriving on Time

Please be aware that Woody Point will become very congested on Race Day. We highly recommend allowing an extra hour travel time to the event to allow time to find parking (see below) and familiarise yourself with the race precinct. We do not want you to be late and miss your event start!


Very limited parking is available at the Crockatt Park entry via Oxley Avenue. Street parking is available close to the race precinct but please be aware of road signs and no parking areas. Traffic enforcement are always present on race day and will issue fines for any infringements. Please also consider local residents when parking and keep noise to a minimum.

Wet Weather

The race will still go ahead in the event of wet weather. Please allow for extra time to complete registration and baggage drop off if it is raining.

In the event of a storm or inclement weather, the event may be cancelled to ensure the safety of all participants. All participants will be notified of a cancellation via email. Please note, refunds are not permitted in the unlikely event that J2J is cancelled.


A complimentary designated baggage area is available to leave your personal belongings. Only small bags will be accepted. We highly recommend leaving any valuables at home and accept no liability for any property left in the baggage area.


Please ensure you are adequately hydrated and sufficiently fit to complete your nominated course. If you require assistance before, during or after the race, please approach the closest Marshall. First aid is available onsite.

Race Bib

Your Race Bib has an Electronic Timing Chip located on the back of the bib. The chip number must match your bib number. Please check it straight away and if you have transferred races, please ensure you have the correct race bib colour as well. If you have any problems with your bib, please see the Registrations Query team immediately.

The chip must remain on your bib during the entire race and does NOT need to be handed in after you complete the race. Your race bib must be pinned to the front of your shirt. Any participants not wearing a race bib on the course will be asked to leave it immediately.

Event Photography

Post Race photographers will be positioned along the course. Event photography can be purchased directly from Post Race at www.postrace.com.au. Be sure to have your race bib visible at all times.

Race Rules

For the safety of all competitors, please ensure you follow the directions from Marshalls, Emergency Services Personnel and Event Staff at all times. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification.

Please note the following important rules regarding this year’s J2J:

  • You must only run on the designated J2J Course.
  • Pets, scooters, bikes and skateboards are NOT permitted.
  • Prams are NOT permitted in the Half Marathon (but are permitted in all other race events).
  • Entrants pushing prams MUST start behind all competitors at the commencement of each race to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Headphones are permitted, however, we recommend that you do not run with headphones. If you choose to wear headphones, at your own risk, please ensure the volume is at a reasonable level so that you are able to hear instructions from course officials at all times.
  • Walking is permitted but please note cut off times for the Half Marathon and 10km events.

Start times

The 5km and 10km races will have a staggered race start. When you registered, you were asked to estimate the time you would take to complete the race. Don’t worry if this might have changed – it was merely a guideline to help sort out groupings.


Start Zone 1 – This start is for those competitors who estimate they would complete the race in under 30 minutes (Sub 30 mins)

Start Zone 2 – This start is for those competitors who estimate completing the race in over 30 minutes (30+ mins)


Start Zone 1 – This start is for those competitors who estimate completing the race in under 60 minutes (Sub 60 mins)

Start Zone 2 – This start is for those competitors who estimate completing the race in over 60 minutes (60+ mins)

Before the race, please start in the time zone that most accurately reflects your estimated race time. The second wave of each event will start approximately one minute after the first wave (your race time commences as you cross the start line).

Cut-off Times

Cut-off times are in place for the Half Marathon & 10km events to ensure the safety of participants and the reopening of roads. Participants must reach designated points as follows:

Half Marathon – Cut-off at 3 hours 30 minutes

  • 8:20am – 9.5km (Fortune Avenue, near Tingira Park)
  • 9:20am – 16km (Redcliffe Parade entry the return journey, near the Redcliffe Jetty)
  • 10:15am – 21.1km Race Finish

10km – Cut off at 2 hours 30 minutes

  • 9:15am – 5km (10km turn around point, Redcliffe Parade)
  • 10:30am – 10km Race Finish

This year, there is prize money on offer for the first three male and female finishers of the Half Marathon and 10km ONLY.

Trophies will also be awarded to the first three finishing male and females of each event.

Medallions will be posted to the first three finishing male and female age group winners of each event when results have been finalised.

Upon Completing the Race

Please make your way to the recovery zone where you can rehydrate and enjoy a variety of fruit in the Fresh Produce Zone. You will be issued with your finisher’s medallion as you leave the Finisher’s Zone.

Please note that this zone is only available to race competitors. General public will not be permitted in this area.

Presentation Ceremony

The Presentation Ceremony will commence at 10am on the stage (located in front of the Belvedere Hotel). Prizes will be awarded here.


The Peninsula Private Hospital Healthy Living Expo is back again this year with plenty to do and see including free post-race massage, posture checks, supplements and active wear as well as some healthy (and tasty) treats.

So make sure you bring your family and friends down to cheer you on while you run.
