Course Certification

Course Certification

This year’s Jetty 2 Jetty is off to a running start with an official course certification and registrations flowing already!

In the event’s 35th year, the Association for International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) has officially certified the race.

What does this mean?

This certification means, the course has been accurately measured and set up, so competitors complete the correct distance.

Those running can be considered by athletic governing bodies for records or qualifying criteria. Plus, the performance by this year’s runners can be considered by other certified races.

The new certification is expected to be a drawcard for serious runners.

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) CEO Shane Newcombe said the certification is an exciting addition to one of the most scenic and popular running events on the calendar.

“To have the course certified was not an easy feat, we are excited to be officially certified which separates our fun run from other fun runs and gives runners the choice to join the ranks of the professional international races such as the Sunshine Coast Marathon.”
