Jetty 2 Jetty has come a long way since the first race from Rotary Park to Woody Point organised by the Moreton Bay Road Runners 35 years ago.
Andy Almond from MBRR says the race is embedded in the club’s history.
“The club started in 1985 and in 1986 they picked up on the great success of fun runs,” Andy says.
In 1986, there were 120 entrants. This year’s race will have more than 4000.
Andy says while J2J started as a fun run mainly for locals, the region as a whole has come to benefit from the event.
“The value it has for the community – it brings people in from all over Brisbane and Queensland – we’ve had some big names over the years,” he says.
