Our Tips to have the best J2J Weekend

This year’s Jetty 2 Jetty is getting closer and with the starting line in sight, it’s time to swap your slippers for runners and start training!

This years race is set to be our biggest, with sporting apparel stalls, the Healthy Living Expo and a bunch more, we have everything you'll need on and off the track!

So this year, when you come down to Pelican Park and whether you’re walking, jogging or taking on the big GKS Law Half Marathon, here are some crucial tips to make sure that your race day goes off without any false starts!

1. Prepare Early

Don't leave anything to chance and make sure you have everything you need from clean socks to that sweatband the night before. You don’t want to be spending your precious hours in the morning trying to find your left shoe when you could be having a healthy breakfast and focusing on the run ahead!

2. Early Night’s Sleep

Get and early night sleep. Everyone works better when they have a good night’s rest, so do your body and your brain a favour and get plenty sleep. If you are coming a long way for the run, it might be a good idea to think about staying in one of the fantastic hotels along the Redcliffe Peninsula, with a large list of places to rest your head, go to Visit Moreton Bay Region for more information!

3. Arrive Early

This is going to be a monster event this year with heaps of people already registered and more registering everyday! So make sure you get down to Pelican Park nice and early with plenty of time to find a park and secure your spot in the race line-up. This will give you a chance to warm-up, put on your race bib, slap on some sunscreen and maybe even snap a selfie before getting underway!

4. Enjoy the Race!

Probably the most important point that we will make but, enjoy the race! It’s not Queensland’s most scenic fun run for no reason. Take the time to look around and soak up the gorgeous beaches that Redcliffe has to offer. The stunning ocean views and lush forests will keep your mind off the run and make you stop to smell the roses.

5. Visit the Healthy Living Expo

At this years J2J, the amazing Healthy Living Expo is back again with a variety of health and well-being market stalls, delicious food and shops. The health food experts will be there to help you discover more about living a healthy lifestyle and what you can do to improve on your PB. Find out everything you need to know by visiting these stalls and learn some new tips for your next big race!

6. Post-race meal

After that big run you will probably be looking to re-fuel right? Well Redcliffe has some of the finest cafes and restaurants that the Moreton Bay Region has to offer, with something for everyone we are sure you’ll find something to top you up. For information and locations on the delicious restaurants in the area, head to the Eat & Drink page of the Visit Moreton Bay Region web page.

7. Jetty Markets

You’ve run from Jetty to Jetty, so how about you walk around one of them at the famous Redcliffe Jetty Markets just off Anzac Parade right by the foreshore. With wonderful trinkets and perfect gift ideas, a nice walk around the markets will be a perfect way to cool off after the run.

8. Relax on the Beach

Redcliffe has some of the most amazing beaches and parks in the entire Moreton Bay Region. From Scarborough to Pelican Park itself, there are dozens of options for you to pick from. And if your little runners still have energy to burn, this is a great idea for them to run around on our Kid Friendly Beaches and soak up some sun before a relaxing afternoon after your big day.
